The rule most people miss

Not on the list? Florida law also covers conditions of the same kind or class as, or comparable to, the ones it names.

The part most people don’t know

California also covers any other chronic or persistent symptom that substantially limits a major life activity, or that could cause serious harm if not relieved.

    No card? No charge

We check before you book, so you’re never paying for a visit on a maybe. The visit fee is quoted on the call, and if the doctor doesn’t certify you, you don’t pay it. State card fees go directly to the state.

    What if I don’t qualify?

Then you don’t pay the visit fee. We check before you book, so you’re never paying for a visit on a maybe.

    What does it cost?

We quote the visit fee on the call, before you book. Each state also charges its own card fee: $30 in Georgia (good for five years), $75 a year in Florida, and up to $100 at your county in California.

    What do I bring?

A photo ID and proof you live in the state. In Georgia, your physician uploads your ID and, if it doesn’t show a current Georgia address, proof of residency. Florida asks for a Florida driver license or ID card; California counties accept items like a lease, utility bill or vehicle registration. Records about your condition help but aren’t always required.

Who can certify me in Georgia? GA

A physician fully licensed in Georgia, with a principal place of practice in the state and a bona fide physician-patient relationship with you.

My Georgia card lasts five years. Do I still see the doctor? GA

Yes. The card is valid for five years, but Georgia physicians submit an annual certification for each patient.

What ID does my Georgia doctor need? GA

Your physician uploads photos of the front and back of your driver’s license, state ID, passport or military ID. If it doesn’t show a current Georgia address, you’ll also need proof of residency.

Where can I buy, and how much can I have? GA

Georgia cardholders buy from licensed dispensaries, which you can find through the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission. The possession limit is up to 12,000 milligrams of THC.

How long is a Georgia card good for? GA

Georgia’s Medical Cannabis card is valid for five years. The card fee is $30, plus a $3.75 service fee when you pay online.

Can a caregiver register for someone in Georgia? GA

Yes. Caregivers can be registered for a patient and get their own card, which is also $30.

Do I have to come in person in Florida? FL

For your first certification, yes — Florida law requires an in-person physical exam. After that, your physician can do follow-up exams by telehealth.

How fast will I get my Florida card? FL

The doctor certifies you the same day you qualify. Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use approves online applications in about 10 business days on average, then mails your card.

Do I need the state card in California? CA

No — California’s Medical Marijuana Identification Card program is voluntary. A valid card does exempt you from retail sales tax on medical cannabis products.

Where do I get a California card? CA

Apply in person at your county’s program with a government photo ID, proof of residency and your physician’s recommendation. Counties can charge up to $100, with 50% off for Medi-Cal and no fee for eligible County Medical Services Program patients. Cards are valid for up to one year.
